Zephyrhills is where US-301, SR-54, SR-56 and SR-39 all come together, and where east Pasco's growth has pushed traffic past what the old grid was built for. Conde-Huggins is a Pasco County firm and we come to Zephyrhills.

Zephyrhills is one of only four cities in Pasco County with its own police department, and it is growing: just under 20,000 people as of 2025, up from about 17,000 five years earlier. US-301, called Gall Boulevard through most of the city, is the main street, and SR-54, SR-56 and SR-39 all end or begin here. That makes Zephyrhills the funnel for everything moving between Wesley Chapel, Dade City, Plant City and the airport and snowbird communities on the city's edges.

Conde-Huggins Accident Injury Lawyers is a Pasco County firm based on Ridge Road in Port Richey. Zephyrhills is on the other side of the county, and we do not ask injured clients to make that drive. We meet you at AdventHealth Zephyrhills, at home, or at a convenient spot in town. Call (240) 421-5511 for a free consultation.

Zephyrhills crash corridors

US-301 / Gall Boulevard. US-301 enters from Hillsborough County, picks up SR-56 across from Festival Park, meets Chancey Road, absorbs SR-39 from Plant City, and runs north through town as Gall Boulevard past the hospital toward Dade City. The Pasco MPO names US-301 among the corridors where county fatalities cluster. In the city, it is a commercial strip with constant turning traffic; north of town, it is a fast four-lane highway.

SR-54 and Eiland Boulevard. State Road 54 ends at US-301 in Zephyrhills after running the entire width of the county from US-19. Its last stretch into town is two-lane and undivided. Eiland Boulevard (CR-579), on the city's west side, carries SR-54 traffic and connects to Morris Bridge Road. Where SR-54 meets Eiland and Morris Bridge Road, traffic from Wesley Chapel, Tampa and Dade City all converges.

SR-56. The 2019 extension of SR-56 from Wesley Chapel to US-301 gave Zephyrhills a direct link to I-75. It also brought interstate-speed traffic onto the US-301 corridor at Festival Park.

Chancey Road (CR-535). Chancey Road runs along the south and east edges of the city as a bypass to Old Lakeland Highway and the airport. It is a two-lane county road carrying more traffic than it was designed for.

Fort King Road (CR-41). Fort King splits off from US-301 north of downtown and heads toward Dade City through residential and rural areas with limited lighting.

Zephyrhills also has a large seasonal population. Winter residents, many of them older drivers, fill the mobile home and RV communities along US-301 and Chancey Road from fall through spring, and the traffic changes with them.

City police, FHP or the Sheriff

The Zephyrhills Police Department covers the incorporated city. Step outside the city limits, which many Zephyrhills addresses do, and the Florida Highway Patrol, Troop C, or the Pasco Sheriff's Office responds. FHP handles most of the serious crashes on US-301, SR-54 and SR-56.

Which agency wrote your report matters, because the Sheriff's Office generally does not complete long-form crash reports. A short form gives an insurer almost nothing to work with, which is when the other driver's version becomes the official one. We counter that with our own investigation: scene photographs, 911 audio, witness interviews and video from the businesses along Gall Boulevard. Call (240) 421-5511 early so that evidence is still available.

Golf carts, scooters and the 55-plus communities

Zephyrhills has an unusual share of golf carts, mobility scooters and low-speed vehicles on and beside its roads, particularly around the retirement communities off US-301 and Chancey Road. A golf cart hit by a car at a community entrance is a real injury case, but it raises coverage questions a standard car crash does not: the cart may not carry PIP, and the driver's homeowner's or auto policy may or may not respond. We sort that out before the insurer decides it for you.

AdventHealth Zephyrhills

AdventHealth Zephyrhills, 7050 Gall Boulevard, is the city's only hospital and treats most local crash injuries. Critical trauma is transported to a Level I center in Tampa or to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson.

Your emergency room visit is also the first step in your claim. Florida's no-fault law pays PIP medical benefits only if initial treatment happens within 14 days of the crash. If you were not transported from the scene, see a doctor this week, not next month.

Florida law for Zephyrhills injury claims

Two years to file. Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a) sets a two-year limit for negligence claims that arose after March 24, 2023; wrongful death is also two years under § 95.11(5)(e).

Comparative fault. Under Fla. Stat. § 768.81(6), you recover nothing if you are found more than 50 percent at fault, and your award is reduced by any smaller share. Crashes on US-301 often involve a driver turning across the highway and a driver going well over the limit. The physical evidence decides whose share is larger.

PIP. Your own PIP policy pays 80 percent of medical bills and 60 percent of lost income up to $10,000 regardless of fault, with the medical benefit capped at $2,500 unless a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner finds an emergency medical condition. For retirees, the lost-income benefit may be irrelevant, but the medical benefit and the claim against the at-fault driver are not. Pain and suffering requires a permanent injury or significant scarring under Fla. Stat. § 627.737(2).

UM/UIM. Florida does not require bodily injury liability coverage on most private cars. A driver on US-301 with a state-minimum policy has nothing to pay for your injuries. Your own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage under Fla. Stat. § 627.727 is often the only real source of compensation, and we check every policy in your household for it.

Questions people ask us about zephyrhills car accident cases

Who investigates car accidents in Zephyrhills?

Inside the city limits, the Zephyrhills Police Department, which has about 35 officers and is headquartered on 8th Street. Outside the city, in the unincorporated areas along US-301, SR-54 and Eiland Boulevard, crashes are handled by the Florida Highway Patrol, Troop C, or the Pasco Sheriff's Office. Many Zephyrhills addresses are outside the city, so the agency on your exchange slip is the one to check.

How do I get a Zephyrhills Police Department crash report?

Crash reports from Zephyrhills PD, FHP and the Sheriff's Office are all sold through the Florida Crash Portal at services.flhsmv.gov for $10 plus a $2 transaction fee. Reports can take up to 10 days to post, and the emailed download link expires in 48 hours. For 60 days after the crash, only involved parties, their attorneys and insurers may obtain the report under Fla. Stat. § 316.066(2). We pull it for every client.

Where are Zephyrhills crash victims treated?

AdventHealth Zephyrhills at 7050 Gall Boulevard is the city's only hospital and the first stop for most crash injuries. Serious trauma may be transported to a Level I center in Tampa or to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Pasco's only Level II trauma center. We meet clients at AdventHealth Zephyrhills or at home.

I am a winter resident. Can I handle a Zephyrhills injury claim from out of state?

Yes. Many of our east Pasco clients spend part of the year elsewhere. Florida law governs the claim regardless of where you live, and most of the work happens by phone, email and secure document exchange. We meet you in person while you are here, keep the case moving while you are away, and coordinate with your doctors in both places. The two-year deadline runs either way, so start before you leave.

How long do I have to file after a Zephyrhills crash?

Two years from the date of the crash for negligence claims under Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a), and two years for wrongful death under § 95.11(5)(e). Crashes before March 24, 2023 keep the old four-year period. Claims involving a city, county or school board vehicle require written notice under Fla. Stat. § 768.28(6) before suit.
