Holiday is a community of about 25,000 people wedged between the Anclote River, the Gulf, and the Pinellas County line at Tarpon Springs. It has no downtown and no city hall, but it has US-19 running straight through it, and that road shapes everything about how people in Holiday get hurt.
Conde-Huggins Accident Injury Lawyers is in Port Richey, a short drive north on US-19. We handle injury claims for Holiday residents from Holiday Lake Estates, Beacon Square, Aloha Gardens, Key Vista and the neighborhoods along Moog Road and Mile Stretch Drive. If you cannot get to our office on Ridge Road, we will come to you. Call (240) 421-5511 for a free consultation.
Holiday's crash corridors
US-19. The deadliest stretch of road in Florida, according to a 2024 ConsumerAffairs study, begins in Pinellas and runs north through Holiday. Here US-19 is a wide, fast highway lined with shopping plazas, mobile home parks and apartment complexes whose residents cross on foot to reach the bus stop, the pharmacy or the grocery store. The 2022 Vox investigation of US-19 in Pasco counted 34 fatal pedestrian crashes between 2014 and 2021. FDOT's response was concentrated at the south end of the county: a new mid-block crosswalk at Buena Vista Lane and Bartelt Road in Holiday, which had 10 crashes including a death between 2015 and 2021, pedestrian improvements at Moog Road and other side streets, and LED lighting along the corridor.
Alternate US-19. Alt 19 comes north from Tarpon Springs and ends at US-19 in Holiday. That merge, with traffic arriving from Anclote Boulevard and Anclote Road and joining a highway already running at speed, is a regular site of sideswipe and failure-to-yield crashes.
Moog Road. Moog Road crosses US-19 and connects the neighborhoods on the west side to the highway. FHP has investigated pedestrian deaths near this intersection. The plazas on both corners generate constant turning traffic.
Mile Stretch Drive and Grand Boulevard. County Road 595 runs along Mile Stretch and up Grand Boulevard toward Elfers and New Port Richey. It is a local alternative to US-19 that carries school and neighborhood traffic through residential areas with limited sight lines.
The Pinellas line. Holiday's southern edge is the Tarpon Springs city limit. Crashes a few hundred feet apart can fall under different agencies, different counties and different courthouses. We sort that out for you.

No city police, so who writes your report?
Holiday is unincorporated. The Florida Highway Patrol, Troop C, handles most Pasco crash investigations, especially on US-19 and Alt 19, and the Pasco Sheriff's Office responds to many crashes on local streets. One practical difference: the Sheriff's Office generally does not complete long-form crash reports, so a deputy's short form may contain little more than names and policy numbers.
When the report is thin, the other driver's story becomes the default. We go to the scene, photograph the approach and sight lines, pull 911 audio, request video from the businesses along US-19, and talk to witnesses while their memories are fresh. That work has to happen in the first weeks. Call (240) 421-5511 as soon as you are able.
Hospitals near Holiday
Most Holiday crash patients go to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, 6600 Madison Street in New Port Richey. The east side of Holiday is closer to HCA Florida Trinity Hospital at 9330 SR-54 East. Critical trauma goes to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, the only Level II trauma center in Pasco County.
The emergency room visit is also your first legal step. Florida's no-fault law pays PIP medical benefits only if you receive initial treatment within 14 days of the crash. If you were not transported from the scene, see a doctor or urgent care now, not after the soreness gets worse.
Florida law and your Holiday injury claim
Two years. Since HB 837, negligence claims must be filed within two years of the injury under Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a). Wrongful death carries the same two-year limit under § 95.11(5)(e).
The 51 percent rule. Fla. Stat. § 768.81(6) bars recovery for anyone found more than 50 percent at fault. In pedestrian cases on US-19 this is the entire fight: the insurer will argue that you crossed outside the crosswalk, in dark clothing, against the signal. Where the crash happened, what the lighting was, and what the driver was doing on their phone all matter, and we document each of them.
PIP. Your own policy pays 80 percent of medical bills and 60 percent of lost income up to $10,000, with the medical benefit capped at $2,500 unless a physician, PA or APRN finds an emergency medical condition. Pedestrians who do not own a car and do not live with a relative who does may be covered by the striking vehicle's PIP instead. To recover pain and suffering from the at-fault driver, Fla. Stat. § 627.737(2) requires a permanent injury, significant scarring, or death.
UM/UIM. Bodily injury liability coverage is optional on most private vehicles in Florida, so the driver who hit you may have nothing beyond PIP and property damage. Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage under Fla. Stat. § 627.727 on any car in your household may be the only real source of recovery. We check every policy.

Questions people ask us about holiday car accident cases
Who responds to a crash in Holiday, Florida?
Holiday is an unincorporated community, so there is no Holiday police department. The Florida Highway Patrol, Troop C, works most crashes on US-19 and Alternate US-19, and the Pasco Sheriff's Office responds to many crashes on neighborhood streets. If your crash was south of the county line in Tarpon Springs, the Tarpon Springs Police Department or FHP would have the report instead. We will figure out which agency has your file.
Where do I get my Holiday crash report?
FHP and Pasco Sheriff's Office reports are sold through the Florida Crash Portal at services.flhsmv.gov for $10 plus a $2 transaction fee. Allow up to 10 days for the report to post, and download it within 48 hours of the emailed link. For the first 60 days the report is available only to involved parties, their attorneys and insurers under Fla. Stat. § 316.066(2). We obtain it for every client.
I was hit in the new crosswalk on US-19 near Bartelt Road. Was the driver automatically at fault?
Not automatically, but a marked mid-block crosswalk helps. Florida drivers must yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks, and FDOT built the Buena Vista Lane and Bartelt Road crossing specifically because of a history of crashes there. Insurers still argue that the pedestrian stepped out suddenly or was outside the markings, so photographs, video from nearby businesses and witness names matter. Call (240) 421-5511 before giving a statement.
Which hospital is closest to Holiday after a crash?
Morton Plant North Bay Hospital at 6600 Madison Street in New Port Richey is the closest emergency room for most of Holiday. HCA Florida Trinity Hospital on SR-54 serves the east side. The most serious trauma is transported to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, the county's only Level II trauma center. Wherever you were treated, we will meet you there or at home.
How long do I have to file a claim after a Holiday car accident?
Two years from the date of the crash for most negligence claims under Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a), and two years for wrongful death. If the crash happened before March 24, 2023, the older four-year period still applies. Do not wait for the deadline; evidence on US-19 disappears in weeks, not years.
