Trinity grew from about 4,300 people in 2000 to nearly 12,000 in 2020, and the roads did not grow with it. Almost everyone who lives in the Trinity Communities, Mitchell Ranch or the neighborhoods around Trinity Boulevard leaves and returns through the same two corridors: State Road 54 and Little Road. That is where the crashes happen.
Conde-Huggins Accident Injury Lawyers is in Port Richey, a short drive north on Little Road. We handle injury claims for Trinity residents and for the people who pass through Trinity on their way to Tampa, Tarpon Springs and Odessa. The consultation is free, and we will meet you at the hospital or at home. Call (240) 421-5511.
Trinity's crash corridors
SR-54 at Little Road and the Mitchell Bypass. State Road 54 begins at US-19 in Elfers and runs east past Seven Springs Boulevard to Little Road, where it carries the Mitchell Bypass across the Anclote River. This is the junction that everything in Trinity feeds into, a wide, high-volume intersection with heavy left-turn traffic at every signal.
SR-54 at Mitchell Ranch Road. Just west of Little Road, the Florida Highway Patrol counted 129 crashes at this intersection between July 2022 and the summer of 2026. A curve near the intersection limits the view of oncoming traffic, and drivers leaving the medical offices and shops on the south side have to cross or turn into fast SR-54 traffic. As of mid-2026, FDOT and Pasco County were still designing a signal for it. Residents have been calling the intersection dangerous for years.
Little Road (CR-1). Little Road runs from the Pinellas line north through Trinity, Seven Springs, New Port Richey and Port Richey to Hudson. The Pasco MPO lists it among the corridors where county fatalities cluster. In Trinity it carries school traffic to Mitchell High School and commuter traffic to and from Pinellas.
Trinity Boulevard. The spine of the Trinity Communities, Trinity Boulevard meets SR-54 at the site of the old Tampa Bay Executive Airport. It is residential in character but carries the volume of an arterial, and crashes at its intersections often involve drivers turning out of subdivision entrances.
The Odessa side. Traffic from Starkey Ranch and the Odessa area enters Trinity from the east along SR-54. That stretch is newer and wider, which tends to mean higher speeds.

The nearest ER is in Trinity
HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, 9330 SR-54 East, is right on the main corridor, so most Trinity crash patients are treated there. The most serious trauma is transported north to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Pasco County's only Level II trauma center, which is a few minutes from our office. Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey serves the west side.
Florida's no-fault law requires initial medical care within 14 days of the crash for PIP to pay. A visit to Trinity's emergency room the day of the crash satisfies that rule and gives you the first medical record linking your injuries to the collision. If you declined transport at the scene, see a doctor now and keep every appointment that follows.
FHP or the Sheriff: it changes what your report says
Trinity has no police department of its own. FHP Troop C handles most crash investigations in unincorporated Pasco, particularly on SR-54, and the Pasco Sheriff's Office responds to many crashes on Little Road, Trinity Boulevard and neighborhood streets. The Sheriff's Office generally does not complete long-form crash reports, so if a deputy worked your crash, the report may contain no diagram, no narrative and no witness list.
We treat a thin report as a reason to move quickly. We photograph the scene, request 911 recordings, ask businesses along SR-54 and Little Road to preserve video, and locate witnesses. Call (240) 421-5511 within days, not months, so that evidence still exists.
Florida law for Trinity injury claims
Two years to file. Under Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a), negligence claims that arose after March 24, 2023 must be filed within two years. Wrongful death claims are also two years under § 95.11(5)(e).
Modified comparative fault. Fla. Stat. § 768.81(6) bars recovery for anyone found more than 50 percent at fault. In a left-turn crash at SR-54 and Mitchell Ranch Road, the insurer for the through driver will say you pulled out, and the insurer for the turning driver will say you were speeding. The crash history at that intersection, the sight-line problem, and the physical evidence are how we resolve that argument in your favor.
PIP. Your own PIP policy pays 80 percent of medical expenses and 60 percent of lost income up to $10,000 regardless of fault, but the medical benefit is limited to $2,500 unless a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner documents an emergency medical condition. To recover pain and suffering from the at-fault driver, Fla. Stat. § 627.737(2) requires a permanent injury, significant scarring, permanent loss of an important bodily function, or death.
UM/UIM. Bodily injury liability coverage is not required on most private vehicles in Florida. Trinity residents tend to carry good insurance; the people who hit them often do not. Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage under Fla. Stat. § 627.727 is frequently the largest source of recovery in a serious crash, and we review every policy in your household to find it.

Questions people ask us about trinity car accident cases
Who investigates crashes in Trinity?
Trinity is an unincorporated community, so there is no city police department. The Florida Highway Patrol, Troop C, investigates most crashes on SR-54, and the Pasco Sheriff's Office responds to many crashes on Little Road, Trinity Boulevard and neighborhood streets. The agency name and report number are on the exchange card the officer gave you at the scene. If you lost it, we can find out.
How bad is the SR-54 and Mitchell Ranch Road intersection?
Bad enough that FDOT and Pasco County have been designing a traffic signal for it. The Florida Highway Patrol counted 129 crashes at SR-54 and Mitchell Ranch Road, just west of Little Road, between July 2022 and mid-2026. A curve limits visibility, and drivers leaving the medical offices there have to turn across heavy SR-54 traffic. If you were hurt there, that history is part of your case.
Where do I get a crash report for a Trinity accident?
Through the Florida Crash Portal at services.flhsmv.gov, for $10 plus a $2 fee per transaction. Reports may take up to 10 days to appear, and the emailed download link expires after 48 hours. For 60 days after the crash, only involved parties, their attorneys and insurers can get it (Fla. Stat. § 316.066(2)). We pull it as part of your free consultation.
I was treated at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital. What should I do next?
Keep every discharge paper and follow the instructions for follow-up care. Your ER visit satisfied Florida's 14-day PIP treatment rule, and if a physician there found an emergency medical condition, the full $10,000 PIP benefit is available. Then call (240) 421-5511 before you speak with the other driver's insurer. We handle the hospital's billing questions and any lien so you can focus on recovery.
What is the deadline to file an injury claim after a Trinity crash?
Two years from the date of the crash for most negligence claims under Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a), and two years for wrongful death under § 95.11(5)(e). Crashes before March 24, 2023 keep the old four-year period. Government defendants, such as Pasco County or a school board vehicle, require separate written notice under Fla. Stat. § 768.28(6).
